Oakland Public Library: Lakeview Branch

Incredible community driven service, great staff, surrounded by a beautiful park and next to a spectacular lake.

Excellent customer-facing assistance at the front desk. Super informative, like telling me about some of there new resources, i.e. a large telescope.

It's a small beach, but it has an easily accessible parking lot, and you can reserve anything in the system and have it sent there, including from the library consortium to which they belong.

A children's playground out the parking lot door, and Lake Merritt across from the other entrance.

Having fun isn't hard, when you've got a library card (also shout out chess club every Saturday from 12-2pm at this branch)

Lots of plugs. Limited seating, but never full :) nice & helpful librarians. Sometimes you can talk but sometimes older people will look at you funny if you do. You can rent laptops. On the weekend, sometimes there’s chess outside or drummers or food stands nearby the lake. The bathroom is near the playground and lowkey dirty. Goose poop in the grass. Really good book selection for a small library, good job curating :)

Best little library there ever was ! There is always an amazing book selection for being a one room library. The friendly staff working the front, and the nice security guards are always worth the trip.

Cute little library near the lake! The lucky day section is great and the librarians are always kind. Check out the mural on the side of the building if you go!
